The role of design in home experimentation

People relate with their home or work environment as dynamically as possible. They experience this environment no longer as a fixed and unchangeable set of elements and objects, but as pieces belonging to a jigsaw puzzle which we can each assemble in a different way.
Thus, objects become the mediators of a unique experience between the user and his/her surrounding environment.
The home environment, therefore, can be viewed as a playing-field, where new combinations between different types of objects can be tried out. This game produces new information about the function of a given object. This information evolves, changes and can turn into new hypotheses of daily lifestyle.
The word “experience” produces quite interesting considerations in my view.
Let’s take reality first. Existing elements or situations are mixed or reshaped until a new meaning is achieved.
Then let’s take the path of knowledge and practice: in an experimental context, human thought changes together with the knowledge gained about a given object while it is handled.
Now let’s take the new type of relation that is established with the object concerned: effects are staged and this generates “phenomena” which allow for the onset of a different narrative notion.
To conclude, it is through experimentation that man becomes active and creative, questioning his daily lifestyle and his relation with objects in way that is amusing and thoughtful at the same time.
